An exciting day in Australia with our first female Prime Minister.

My start to the day was at a 1 Million Women breakfast, with some interesting speakers such as Penny Wong, the Minister for Climate Change, Energy Efficiency and Water.

The 1 Million Women is a campaign that aims to inspire women to make a difference to climate change by making changes in their own life.

Some interesting facts I gleaned:

  • women determine 70% of consumer spending
  • women make up 54% of Australia’s population
  • women are good communicators and networkers
  • everyone can make a difference.

In summary:

  • climate change is real,
  • it is happening and impacting on our environment,
  • we can’t wait for “others” to do something, because we can only achieve dramatic changes if we all take responsibility for ourselves and what we can influence.

And a great quote.

You must be the change you want to see in the world.
